F.R.O.G.

Frog - Fully Rely On God  I usually don't go for those corny little acronym things but for some reason getting this picture of this frog made me think of that.  A lot.  No matter how hard I tried to remove it from my conscious thought I couldn't.   I began to think how many times I fail to rely on God and when I fail to rely on God and try to hard to rely on myself I usually trip hard over my pride and fall flat on my face.  Sad, because the bible tells us in so many ways not to do just what it is I seem to do so well!
The simplest lesson of them all is Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
on your own intelligence do not rely
My own intelligence get's me into trouble so much, but maybe it's not so much my intelligence but my pride.  It's when my pride tells me it's all me, I did this all on my own ant that's when the trouble starts.  I was listening to Mark Hart and he said that the only thing we truly own is our sin.  Everything else is God's.  Sobering thought but when we match that up with fully relying on God then that's how it has to be!

Philippians 4:19
My God will fully supply whatever you need, in accord with his glorious riches in Christ Jesus
Sometimes I find myself relying on God for what I want and not getting it.  God knows what I need.  Sometimes what I want and what I need don't match up. That's when I need to fully rely on God and trust Him.

When we fully rely on God we can do amazing things:
Matthew 14:27-31
At once [Jesus] spoke to them, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” Peter said to him in reply, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw how [strong] the wind was he became frightened; and, beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Peter walked on flipping water when he relied on God!  That's right, read it again if you need to.  He trusted and walked out on the sea!  During a storm!  But then Peter's reliance (faith) weakened and what happened?  He began to sink like a brick.

Now don't make fun of Peter here.  He probably had more trust than I ever would have, I probably don't have the faith strong enough to rely on God to even put my leg over the side of the boat.  Peter actually went out on the water.

That's the question I suppose I could end with here.  Do I have the faith enough to rely on God to make that first step when He tells me to do so?  As Isaiah 26:4 tells us
Trust in the LORD forever! For the LORD is an eternal Rock
